We've seen a concerning uptick in unsafe behavior on e-bikes, particularly among kids. While this is a complex problem that's much bigger than just Corte Madera, we're taking one of the first steps in our local response: after multiple near-misses where families picnicking in our parks have been almost hit by youths riding e-bikes, we are no longer allowing bikes or e-bikes on the grass in our parks. This change will also protect public lawns, which are maintained by the taxpayers, from being damaged by bikes. If you find yourself needing to cross a park lawn with a bike, you can still walk your bike over the grass.
