Adopt Mid-Year Budget Revision - YES
I voted to adopt our mid-year budget revision after a thorough presentation on the proposed changes from staff. This is a routine process; when you set a budget for the coming year, you don't always know how revenues will compare to what you had originally forecast, or what unexpected expenses might pop up. We typically do a mid-year check-in to see how things are tracking, and make any necessary adjustments. Most of the items in this revision were pretty ordinary, but I do w
Appoint Valerie Boshoer to Planning Commission - YES
The Corte Madera Planning Commission has had a vacancy following the tragic passing of a beloved member last year. While that seat has been temporarily filled by another former member, the Town conducted a robust recruitment process to find a permanent candidate to fill the seat for the remainder of its term. After using all the Town's communication channels to advertise the open recruitment, we received three strong applicants, all of whom interviewed for the position before

When CalTrans announced with rather short notice that they intended to rebuild the Highway 101 overpass at Tamalpais Drive, the Town scrambled to work with the community in providing our input before the feedback window closed. Corte Madera residents found that, of the six options for the remodel offered by CalTrans, several didn't come close to meeting the community's needs for safety and accessibility, and only one appeared to be a good fit for the community. As a more cyni
Rezone 18 Parcels to Conform with Housing Plan - YES
Every 8 years, the state requires all California cities and counties to create an 8-year plan for allowing new housing to be built. The process starts with the state assigning each city a quota for how many units of housing they must prepare for. Cities are then required to create an inventory of all parcels where housing could conceivably be built, and to prepare a plan showing how they will ensure their regulations don't prevent that quota of housing units from being built,
