Recent surveys have highlighted swimming pool access as one of the community’s top priorities. I voted yes to authorize the Town Manager to provide up to $50,000 towards the Marin nonprofit, SOMA Aquatics, for their free summer swim time and swim lessons at Redwood High School’s outdoor pool. The 2023 program includes activities like 7 weeks of lifeguard-supervised free and lap swimming, professionally led water aerobics classes, and swim lessons. It is important that we increase access to these lessons for everyone in the community. Thank you to the team at SOMA Aquatics for continuing to benefit Marin.
One important thing to note: swim lessons are free for low-income families! Swimming lessons can be expensive, and this is a great opportunity for all families to make sure their kids are safe to enjoy the water this summer.
