Allow & Regulate Short Term Rentals - YES

I’m proud to have voted in favor of a new ordinance allowing short-term rentals (STR) in Corte Madera. While we've long had STRs (think AirBnb) in our community, this new ordinance establishes previously lacking guidelines and will provide clarity to those who wish to participate, either as a renter or as a homeowner. Community feedback played a tremendous role in shaping the regulations to ensure they addressed the specific needs and concerns of the residents.

By choosing to regulate STRs rather than prohibit them, I think we’ve achieved a well-balanced solution that will also help contribute to the economic vitality of Corte Madera, bringing in visitors to help support our local businesses, and providing local homeowners with an alternate source of income. I’m proud of the work we’ve done to get to this point and very grateful to all the community members who helped shape this ordinance by participating in public meetings and workshops to share their views.
