This is what criminal justice reform looks like at the local, small-town level. If someone walks their dog off leash in violation of our leash laws, you may be disrespecting the community and annoying your neighbors, but you shouldn't get a criminal record for it—just a fine. That's why I voted to downgrade violations of our leash law from a misdemeanor (which goes on your permanent record) to an infraction (which doesn't), while cleaning up the law's language to more clearly define what is and isn't acceptable conduct.
