Approve Response to Grand Jury Report on Electrifying Buildings - YES

In June, the Marin County Civil Grand Jury released an insightful and instructive report on the importance of building electrification (removing appliances in buildings that run on fossil fuels) if we are to make meaningful progress on protecting our communities from climate change.

Of course, this will be no easy feat, and in our response, the Town formally concurred with all of the Grand Jury's findings on both the imperatives and challenges associated with this monumental task.

The report also laid out a number of recommendations for Marin's cities and towns on how they can proceed towards this goal. Our response to these recommendations lays out a strategic and coordinated process by which Corte Madera will partner with our neighboring communities to enact building electrification in way that's fiscally and technically sound.

This is an initiative that I am incredibly excited about; with half our Town in the flood zone and half in the fire zone, it's clear that this is one of the most crucial steps we can take to fight back against the threats posed by climate change, and I will be pushing for electrification as quickly as is practical and possible.
