Appoint Leila Mongan to Vacant Town Council Seat - YES

David Kunhardt, our former Vice Mayor, has resigned from the Town Council, as his family is moving to Maine. After a three week application period, we received an outstanding 11 applicants from community members interested in joining the Town Council, 9 of which proceeded to interviews. We went through a marathon process of public interviews and deliberations, and we were impressed by the qualifications and dedication to our community of candidates across the board.

Our choice was an incredibly difficult one, but after carefully reviewing each application and interviewing the candidates, I settled on Leila Mongan. Leila is a talented lawyer and mother who impressed us all with her intelligence, compassion, and dedication to our community.

Leila has already played an important role in Corte Madera as part of the Project Homekey citizens' working group, and will make history as the first woman of color to serve on the Corte Madera Town Council when she is sworn in on April 6th.

I want to thank all the residents who applied for their willingness to serve the town we all love, and encourage both the other applicants as well as all members of the community interested in public service to consider applying for the numerous openings on the Town's various boards and commissions. These roles are an important way to make a positive impact in the community!
