Intelligent development
  • Support development that is appropriate for our community, contributes to the local economy, and enhances the town's character. As the region continues to be a hotbed of growth, it's important that we position ourselves as being open to change without compromising on our community's identity and values.

  • Ensure all new development has a net positive impact on the town. Proposed projects must be carefully evaluated with respect to the multifaceted effects they might have on our town. We must not shy away from denying or amending proposed developments that would have an unacceptable impact on traffic, local infrastructure, or the environment.

Zoning for success
  • Implement innovative zoning strategies to create an even more dynamic, efficient, and convenient town. We can make our town more pedestrian friendly and boost the local economy by decreasing the separation between popular commercial and recreational destinations and residences.

  • Employ zoning laws that reflect our community's priorities. Responsible zoning laws will continue to be vital to helping Corte Madera mitigate its environmental footprint and avoid the worst effects of climate change and seasonal flooding.

  • Reinforce Corte Madera's image as an idyllic place to live and do business. We must continue to embrace zoning laws as a tool to shape and protect the small-town charm and friendly, community-oriented feel that we all love and cherish in our town.

Protect our open spaces

  • Prioritize the maintenance and creation of parks and nature preserves. Our community is lucky enough to enjoy several fantastic public parks, in addition to beautiful protected natural spaces. We value these treasures; let's look for ways to further expand public recreation opportunities and heal the environment by setting aside sensitive land for additional parks and preserves.

Case Study: RH Expansion at The Village

The new RH showroom at The Village promises to be both an economic and recreational asset to the community—but the plan includes turning the gravel overflow lot to a paved lot, which has potentially major environmental impacts. The Town must insist that conversion include critical sustainable design features to aid the sensitive local ecology.
