Healthy Kids

Setting our kids up for a healthy and prosperous future

  • Work with the town's parents to place children's health front and center

  • Support health-services volunteering for low-income children

  • Help our schools, after-school programs, and childcare organizations get kids outside and moving

  • Expand access to quality childcare for disadvantaged families

  • Find further opportunities for the LCMSD and the Town to share resources

Make children's health a priority
  • Work with the town's parents to place children's health front and center. The Town is uniquely suited to play a low-cost organization and support role in helping parents organize and advocate for the health of local youth.

  • Support health-services volunteering for low-income children. We must ensure that every child in our town receives an equal shot at a healthy future, regardless of their socioeconomic situation. The Town should help volunteer organizations in their work to bring health services to underprivileged Corte Madera kids.

  • Help our schools, after-school programs, and childcare organizations get kids outside and moving. Physical activity and time outdoors are essential to a child's health and wellbeing. The Town should continue its assistance in making sure organizations have the space and resources they need to get kids outdoors and moving around.

  • Expand access to quality childcare for disadvantaged families. Let's look for new and innovative ways to make critical childcare services like daycare and summer camps more accessible to low-income families, and to help integrate English-second-language students into these programs.

Work together to expand opportunities

  • Find further opportunities for the LCMSD and the Town to share resources. The Joint Use Agreements by which the Larkspur Corte Madera School District and the Town share use of their assets and facilities have proven to be a successful model for the community. Let's continue to expand that cooperation, pooling community resources for the benefit of our kids.
